How to Play Cooperative Poker
3–6 players · one shared goal
Goal
This is a team game against the odds: everyone wins or loses together. Each of you holds a hidden poker hand, and the table wins the round only if, by the end, every player has claimed the chip that matches how strong their hand truly is against the others.
The deal
You each get your own poker hand and share five community cards, revealed in stages — the flop, the turn and the river — exactly like Texas Hold’em. Talking about your cards is not allowed.
The chips
There is one chip for each place in the ranking, from the weakest hand to the strongest. Taking a chip is your claim about where your hand stands:
- White — the weakest hand at the table
- Yellow, then orange — somewhere in the middle
- Red — the strongest hand
Read and steal
As each community card turns over, take the chip that fits where you think your hand ranks. You can pick up a free chip or steal the one another player holds — they lose it and must claim another. No words: read the board and each other’s choices.
The reveal
After the river, once everyone has settled on a chip, the hands turn face up. If every chip sits with the correctly ranked hand, the whole table wins the round. A single misplaced chip loses it for everyone.
Challenges & advantages
Before the deal the host can add twists. Challenges make it harder — skip a chip colour, reverse the extremes, or pass a card to your neighbour. Advantages make it easier — allow ties, or rank by counting figures instead of poker strength.
